The One Show’s Alex Jones gobsmacked as Elton John warns ‘lay off the cocaine’

Elton John ‘s appearance on The One Show on Monday left host Alex Jones stunned.

The singer, 74, appeared on the BBC talk show to promote his new single with Rina Sawayama called Chosen Family.

But it was a question from a fan that led to the Rocket Man singer leaving Alex and co-host Michael Ball gobsmacked.

The pop icon, real name Reginald Dwight, was asked what advice he would give his younger self.

And his “I would say, lay off the cocaine” response left the hosts flabbergasted.

Michael replied: “Very sage advice”, to which Elton responded with a cheeky grin: “Absolutely.”

A shocked Alex approved his answer and commented: “I love it, I love it!”

Fans were also quick to joyously commend the star’s answer.

Rina added: “The song means so much to both of us, and recording it together was such a special experience I will never forget.”

Last month, Elton slammed the Vatican for being “hypocritical” in a furious tweet about gay marriage.

He accused the Vatican of hypocrisy because it had invested money in Rocketman, which tells the true story about the gay singer finding love and finally marrying David Furnish.
