Raven-Symoné reveals that Raven’s Home might not be returning for season 5. The Disney Channel sitcom is a revival of Symoné’s iconic teen comedy That’s So Raven, which aired on the network from 2003 to 2007. Raven’s Home brings back Raven as the chaotically clairvoyant Raven Baxter, now a mother, and Anneliese van der Pol as her ride-or-die friend from high school, Chelsea, surrounded by a new cast of kids.
Amid rumors that the sitcom may have another season on the horizon, Symoné revealed to ET that even she doesn’t know whether Raven’s Home will continue. After facing production delays due to COVID, season 4 is currently airing with 19 episodes under its belt. Season 5 hasn’t been confirmed by the network, and viewership has dwindled since season 1. As for its star, Symoné says she’d be happy to keep making the show. The actress implores fans who want to see the show continue to make their desires known:
I cannot tell you the status of Raven’s Home because I don’t know it myself. I hope that people go back and watch the series and write in, tweet, post what they would like because ultimately we are here for the fans. We are here to entertain those. And do I love my cast? Yes. Do I want to work with them for as long as I can? Of course. Is it my decision? No, that’s Disney Channel’s decision. So wait for it. Make noise, stomp your feet, do what you can and see what happens.
Against substantial odds, Raven’s Home has proved a successful spinoff of its pioneering predecessor, which lives on in the hearts and minds of a certain generation who were charmed by Raven’s antics back in the 2000s. With reliably tight jokes, endless physical gags, and a fresh new cast of Disney kids, the follow-up does justice to the original teen comedy while updating the premise for a new era. All else aside, the project exists to showcase the brilliant, underappreciated comedic talent that is Symoné. While it would be a shame if Raven’s Home were canceled, it would be exciting to see Symoné ham it up somewhere outside the Disney universe.
