New Lords Of Dogtown TV Show Coming To IMDB TV | Screen Rant

IMDb TV is developing a new Lords of Dogtown show, based on the 2005 film of the same name and the 2001 documentary that inspired it. The original Lords of Dogtown told the story of the Zephyr Skateboard Team, a real group formed in the 1970s that helped bring skateboarding to the mainstream in the United States. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke also directed the 2005 Lords of Dogtown movie, but the story has not been further adapted until recently.

A television adaptation of Lords of Dogtown is now in the works at IMDb TV, Variety reports. The show will follow a teenage girl living in the 1970s foster care system. The young girl eventually teams up with a Southern Californian skateboarding group where the members look up to Zephyr as inspiration. The series will be written by Kat Candler, who previously served as showrunner for the OWN show Queen Sugar.

Lords of Dogtown is just one of several notable series making their way to IMDb TV, the most prominent of which has been an adaptation of the bestselling Alex Rider novel series. IMDb TV may be one of the more minor players in the streaming market, but the shows they are creating have potential. Viewers will have to wait to see whether Lords of Dogtown meets their expectations.
