Fancy yourself an all inclusive holiday, shouting “I’ve got a text!” from the poolside and meeting a whole bunch of new people in the hope of finding love?
Love Island is back for 2021 and you’ll be pleased to know the show is still looking for contestants to apply.
You must be 18 or over at the time of the application closing date, and you must be a singleton looking for love.
Applicants must also be exclusively available for a minimum of ten weeks filming – so it’s a big commitment.
If you think you’ve got what it takes and want to be jetting off for some summer romance this year, the deadline is 30 April and applications can be made on the the ITV website.
But the application process isn’t the only way to secure your place in the villa.
Casting producers also scroll and search for contestants online who have a strong social media content and following.
They’re looking for people who have strong personalities that the public would be captivated in watching each evening.
Cast producer, Lewis Evans explained: “We also cast our net far and wide by looking at social media profiles ( Twitter and Instagram ) as it’s always quite easy to gauge on there people who are popular, aren’t afraid to show themselves off and have a big following.
“We also attend events and hold street castings for prospective Islanders. The key is that they are over 18, single and looking for love.”
After the application and casting stage, several interviews are conducted to narrow down the search. The producers look for personalties that shine through and capture their attention.
Lewis said: “It’s all about having a great mix of desirable, aspirational singletons who have interesting and engaging personalities to keep our viewers glued and entertained by what’s going on in the villa”.
Grabbing the casting producers’ attention isn’t always easy but with your chance to win £50,000 and a hope of finding love it was never going to be your typical interview.
Lewis explained that one of the very first questions asked at a Love Island interview is designed to figure out if contestants are in it for the right reasons.
He said: “One of the main questions we ask, from the outset, is if they would choose love or money. It’s always important to us that anyone coming onto the show is open to finding the girl or guy of their dreams”.

Despite the mixture of personalities, the producers can never predict who will end up with who during their time in the villa.
Lewis said: “Anything can happen and sometimes the people who might be a perfect match on paper will end up going for somebody totally different”.
It’s all part of the show after all, seeing which couples manage to go the distance, and which islanders keep getting their heads turned.
And with a year of restrictions and limited dating scenes for most, this could be your perfect opportunity to find love.
