Katie Price and her fiancé Carl Woods have been vocal about their hopes of having a baby together.
However, the smitten couple – who hope to tie the knot this year – have revealed that they may struggle to conceive due to Carl using steroids to bulk up in his younger years.
It is well known that performance-enhancing drugs that increase muscle mass and decrease fat can cause many undesirable effects – such as fertility issues.
And as the former glamour model, 42, who is already mother to five children, and ex Love Island star, 32, appeared on Channel 4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch on Wednesday they explained how Carl used to take Anabolic steroids to build muscle.
During scenes that showed the pair visiting a fertility clinic and seeking advice from a Doctor, Carl shared: “I have got a history of using steroids when I was younger and always been in the back of my mind – the damage.”
Katie also admitted that she has concerns due to her age and therefore the couple are considering IVF.
Worried Carl asked the specialist: “I have used steroids in the past and am worried about what it has done to my sperm count. If it has affected it, are there things we can do to fix it?”
The Doctor explained that in some circumstances it is possible but other times nothing can be done.
Carl then went off to collect a sperm sample to be checked and Katie had an internal ultrasound where she was reassured by the medical professional that she looks in good health to have a sixth child.
After the film wrapped, the duo joined host Steph in the studio.
Carl told Steph that the situation is daunting and that he has always thought about his sperm count after using steroids.
Carl later reflected on being naive at the time of taking steroids, as he added: “Of course when I was younger I couldn’t see past my nose and use steroids I didn’t even think about future it is only when you older that you realise it can effect you.”
Katie explained that they have been trying to fall pregnant for about six months and logging her ovulation with an app.
Sharing that if they cannot have children that it is not a deal-breaker for their romance, Carl then added: “Ultimately if we couldn’t I wouldn’t leave her over it.”

Katie replied: “I wouldn’t leave you either.”
Carl said that he is “lucky” that Katie has five kids but that he would like to have his own.
The loved-up couple also told how Katie’s mum Amy is keen for them to have a tot – and how she often calls up to find out if they have had sex when Katie is in her fertile window.

Katie and Carl ended the chat by explaining that Carl is now waiting to discuss his results and Katie added that she has some appointments to check that her womb is strong enough to carry following four caesarean operations.
It comes after Katie said the lovebirds have never used protection when getting between the sheets.
She told The Sun : “We have never been careful having sex from day one, as we knew we wanted to be together.”
