Jordan North’s pal says he ‘idolises’ Vernon and brands shower scene ‘soft porn’

With I’m A Celebrity’s unique 2020 series well underway, fans are drawing up their favourites and speculating about who’ll be crowned the first ever King of the Castle.

And making the biggest splash has been none other than Radio 1 DJ Jordan North, 30, who’s cliff-top vomiting sparked a flood of votes for him to tackle the show’s notorious trials.

He’s quickly become a favourite not just with viewers – for his will power in tackling his long list of phobias – but also in camp, where he’s formed friendships that look like they’ll last outside the walls of Gwrych Castle.

Among those new pals is British TV staple Vernon Kay, 46, who a younger Jordan watched on T4 as a youngster.

Jordan and Vernon even left viewers in stitches as they cracked lewd jokes while showering each other, one hid behind the curtain and one working a creaking metal pump.

Jordan’s mate William Hanson, with whom he hosts Help I Sexted My Boss, reckons Jordan still idolises Vernon from those T4 days.

“He’s doing brilliantly well,” William gushed of his pal, “He’s getting on with everyone. I’m not surprised to see these lovely friendships develop.

“He’s particularly close to Beverley [Callard], and Shane [Richie], and he sort of idolises Vernon.”

William added: “Vernon for our generation was someone a lot of us watched on T4, and now he’s doing this show with him and showering him, which was like soft porn.”

And he suspects latecomer Ruthie Henshall will prove a hit with lovable Jordan, remarking: “She seems laid back, down to earth, and probably has some good stories, which Jordan loves.”

After the now-famous shower scene, Jordan addressed Vernon’s wife Tess Daly in the Bush Telegraph.

“It was very satisfying. I’m not going to lie, the man’s in great shape,” he laughed.

“I think I’ve peaked already, just a couple of days in, I’ve showered Vernon Kay.

“Tess if you’re watching, it’s not what it seems.”

Jordan himself admitted he feared the show’s fans would cast their votes for him to take on the infamous tasks after the opening episode saw him bring up breakfast at the thought of abseiling down a cliff-face.

William admitted that he’d cast his vote for Jordan to take on Thursday’s trial Trap Door, which saw him squeezed into a tight tunnel and showered in critters.

“I have voted for Jordan,” he admitted, “I felt really conflicted doing it. I felt particularly bad [on Wednesday] when I saw his face.

“I feel awful, I’m going to have to admit to him afterwards…”
