Bridgerton sex scenes ‘watched by stately home staff’ during filming

All of the Bridgerton scenes filmed on location at a stately home in Yorkshire were closely watched by staff there who were present to make sure nothing was damaged.

Castle Howard in North Yorkshire doubled as the home of Rege-Jean Page’s character the Duke of Hastings and his bride Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor.

Now it’s been revealed stately home staff had to be present to watch over all the scenes filmed there – including the saucy ones.

The show’s director Julie Anne Robinson told Deadline : “When you go into a country house, there is far less flexibility than you can ever imagine.

“You can’t move the bed, you can’t move the painting, you can’t move the wardrobe, and you have to be quite delicate with the furniture.

“In the duke’s bedroom in Castle Howard, Dynevor and Page spent a lot of time in that bed, and there were room monitors in the room when we were doing the sex scenes, and they wouldn’t leave.

Speaking to Grazia Magazine, she said: “My first-ever scene was in episode six, where Simon is going down on Daphne.

“And it was so great, because it felt safe and fun: you choreograph it like a stunt, or a dance.

“It’s crazy to me that that hasn’t been there in the past.”

The show has become a huge hit or Netflix, and bosses of the streaming site confirmed there’s going to be a season two, which will start filming in April.

It’s based on a series of novels by Julia Quinn and season two will focus on another one of the Bridgerton brood – eldest brother Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey.
