American Idol star Funke Lagoke was rushed to hospital after collapsing on stage during Monday night’s show.
The talented star performed with her singing partner Ronda Felton when she took a turn for the worst, in front of horrified judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
The scary moment happened just after Funke and Ronda received feedback for their performance of Barbara Streisand’s Tell Him.
Lionel told the two women, who were performing for Hollywood Week, that their performance was ‘crash and burn’ as they lacked confidence.
All of a sudden, Funke fell to the floor within minutes of receiving the feedback.
In shock, Katy Perry’s jaw dropped open and she looked like she was close to tears.
Meanwhile, Lionel stopped in the act and quickly rushed to the stage to help the aspiring musician.
Medical assistance also began flooding the stage around Funke as she laid on the floor unable to move.
“Wow, she completely busted her chin open,” Luke said.
Fans of the show were also left in disbelief as they took to Twitter to comment on the unexpected accident.
One person wrote: “Holy HELL!!! They way Funke hit the floor on #AmericanIdol … that legit scared me. I really hope she is okay.”
A second shared: “That fall was so unexpected, it actually scared me.”
A statement released by the show revealed Funke was ‘treated for dehydration’ and she will make a return in upcoming episodes.
It read: “Funke was treated for dehydration and released from the hospital. She will return for the showstopper round.”
Her duet partner Ronda was left shaken up by the fall, and she was comforted by the three judges.
Thankfully, Lionel had some good news for Ronda after she just watched the traumatic event unfold.
He told her: “I was about to deliver some news so I thought I should deliver it to you.
“What I was going to say is, we both feel you two deserve to go through. So congratulations!
“I know that was traumatic. But we are here for you and we’re family.”
Emotional Ronda answered: “It’s absolutely amazing news but I can’t say I’m happy in this moment.
“I just am worried about her health, that’s the number one thing. I just want her to know I care about her and I want her to be okay.”
Viewers will be able to see Funke perform on American Idol when she recovers, just in time for the next episode.
