Sex and the City fans can officially get excited as Sarah Jessica Parker has shared the first teaser from the HBO Max reboot of the sassy comedy drama.
Sarah was joined by her fellow stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in sharing the short clip on Instagram, sending fans crazy at the knowledge a new series was on its way.
Captioning the clip, Sarah, 55, wrote: “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now? X, SJ @HBOMax@JustLikeThatMax#AndJustLikeThat #SATCNextChapter”.
In the video, Sarah Jessica could be heard typing away at her computer, similar to how Carrie Bradshaw started every episode: “And just like that…”
Appearing on the screen, this is followed by “the story continues…”
One of the four main actors from the original series that will not be appearing will be Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones.
She distanced herself from any remakes in 2017 and spoke of her disinterest in being involved as well as taking a swipe at Sarah.
Kim said at the time: “It’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of ‘no,’ that I’m demanding or a diva.
“And this is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City, and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker, in that I think she could have been nicer.”
Cynthia and Kristen both shared the teaser on their accounts as well, with Cynthia writing: “You, me, New York… anything is possible.”
Kristen wrote on her post: “Anything is possible…. Meet you there!”
According to a statement from HBO, this will be another chapter of the “groundbreaking series”.
The statement read: “HBO Max has given a series order to AND JUST LIKE THAT…, a new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series, Sex and the City, from executive producer Michael Patrick King and starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
“The new Max Original series is based on the book, Sex and the City, by Candice Bushnell and the original TV series created by Darren Star.
“The series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.
“The ten-episode, half-hour series is scheduled to begin production in New York late spring.”
And Just Like That will also be executive produced by Parker, Davis and Nixon — who are all reprising their original roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Miranda Hobbes, respectively.
Sarah Aubrey, the head of original content at HBO Max, also shared that she was excited to see how the characters’ stories would have evolved.
She said: “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them.”
The original series aired on HBO from 1998 to 2004 and was followed by two spin-off movies in 2008 and 2010.
