WARNING: Spoilers for The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6
A Mandalorian season 2 video imagines what Baby Yoda might be saying if he could talk. The relationship between Baby Yoda, a.k.a Grogu, and the titular Mandalorian, Din Djarin, is the heart of the hit Disney+ series. “Chapter 14: The Tragedy,” saw Baby Yoda captured by Moff Gideon, leaving Djarin assembling a team to save his tiny Force-sensitive green friend.
The general consensus in-universe and with fans is that Djarin is essentially Baby Yoda’s adoptive father figure. Even Ahsoka Tano sensed the connection between the pair in “Chapter 13: The Jedi.” Tano told Djarin, “You’re like a father to him.” Tano determined that she couldn’t train Baby Yoda because Grogu is far too attached to Djarin. Although Djarin keeps stating that he was tasked with taking Baby Yoda to reunite with his own kind, the Jedi, the Mandalorian demonstrates over and over again how attached and protective he is of Grogu.
A clever fan named Zaddylorian made a hilarious video imagining what Baby Yoda could be saying if he could talk to Djarin. The video replays the opening scene from, “Chapter 14: The Tragedy,” where Djarin trains Baby Yoda to use the Force to take his favorite shiny ball. The scene plays out with subtitles of what Grogu could be saying, which helps highlight Mando’s “dad energy.”
The video perfectly encapsulates what many fans adore in the relationship between Baby Yoda and Djarin. Everything from the “I’m going to miss you,” and “I’m going to miss you too,” imagined lines to the ending scene where Djarin grasps Baby Yoda’s favorite silver ball, “The only piece of Grogu that’s left,” tugs strongly at the people’s heartstrings. The Razor Crest may have been blown to smithereens, but Djarin’s true loss was Baby Yoda. Ideally, Baby Yoda and Djarin will be reunited before season 2 ends and have more cute father-son fan-video worthy moments.
There are only two episodes left of The Mandalorian season 2 and a lot of ground to cover. Will Djarin and company rescue Baby Yoda from Moff Gideon’s evil clutches before it’s too late? Regardless of what’s to come, one fact remains certain. Djarin and Baby Yoda’s relationship is the heart and soul of The Mandalorian. Hopefully, Djarin will be able to give Baby Yoda the silver ball again before season 2 ends.
