I’m A Celeb’s Beverley shown eating meat-free meal after ‘fake vegan’ claims

I’m A Celebrity aired footage of ex-Corrie star Beverley Callard eating her separate meat-free meal on Wednesday night, after she was previously called a “fake vegan” by viewers.

The actress divided fans at the start of the season as she narrowly avoided eating deer testicles during a trial, but was later spotted “chomping on a Scotch egg” in a different episode – which was apparently a vegan alternative.

She was defended by presenters Ant and Dec who informed viewers of this, but in the latest episode show bosses shared footage of Beverley preparing to eat her separate meal.

The campmates were getting ready to gather around the fire for their evening meal, and tuck into pheasant.

However, the camp cooks made Beverley a separate meal it was confirmed, without the meat.

Beverley, who has been a strict vegan since March, began eating her dinner as her co-stars continued to cook.

“Because Bev’s a vegetarian, her food was cooked early,” AJ explained in the VT.

The video clip showed Beverley with her food as she said: “Sorry folks, but I’ve got mine.”

The star made a separate meal

Viewers were impressed that producers had decided to show Beverley getting her vegan options for dinner, after she had received backlash from fans due to previous episodes.

On Twitter, one wrote: “I appreciate that @imacelebrity showed Bev has vegan options for dinner so people can lay off her!”

Another shared: “First time we’ve seen Bev getting her separate meal cos she’s ‘vegan’ ImACeleb #imacelebrity.”

Others still weren’t convinced, with one saying: “Also how was it when Fleur East was on the show, along with two others who were vegan. They weren’t allowed to compete unless they ate meat…. why is Bev allowed break the rules ??? #imaceleb ”

“When Bev has her food at a different time to everyone else, the same day ITV defend her as following veganism – coincidence? #ImaCeleb ” a fan penned.

Another echoed: “Does Bev even know what a f***ing vegan or vegetarian is??? #ImACeleb ”

They made something different for the actress

It comes after Beverley was accused by fans of eating a Scotch egg following a win from campmates Ruthie Henshall and Jordan North.

They were presented with a platter of them, however Beverley’s was a vegan option – this just wasn’t specified.

A typical Scotch egg usually consists of a hard boiled egg wrapped in pork sausage meat and then dipped in crumbs.

The star received backlash over whether she was really vegan

She left even more viewers confused after she was then pictured eating a Jammie Dodger.

However, the traditional biscuit in fact changed its recipe earlier this year and made the delicious snack dairy-free.

Despite Ant and Dec’s defence, it hasn’t stopped I’m A Celebrity viewers from keeping a careful eye on everything that Beverley eats during her time in the camp.
