Dr Hilary Jones took the opportunity on Good Morning Britain today to apologise for briefly breaking Covid rules.
The incident, which took place two months ago, saw Dr Hilary photographed in a chemist without a mask.
The medical expert explained to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid today that after a “10-hour day”, his mask had completely slipped his mind.
“Two months ago,” he recalled, “I’d done the show here, I’d done Lorraine.
“I’d gone to St George’s Hospital to film what they’re doing with the NHS Charities Together, they’re producing some areas to relax for the staff after a hard day’s work with Covid, producing gardens outside.
“So a 10-hour day, I’d gone into a chemist in my local village to get an emergency prescription for a patient, and because I’m distracted and there’s nobody in there, I forgot to put my mask on.
“It was for 60 seconds. And in that 60 seconds, somebody who could have reminded me to put my mask on, took a photograph and flogged it to the press.
“That was two months ago, I’m utterly sorry that I forgot to put my mask on. First time in nine months that I’ve done that.
“I put my hands up, because I think almost everyone’s done it.”
This comes shortly after Piers admitted to breaking mask rules on a date night with wife Celia Walden.
He was snapped getting into the back of a taxi without his mask on in a moment of forgetfulness.
Piers told that he’d remembered shortly after, telling his Twitter followers: “I did breach covid rules for a few seconds by forgetting to put my mask on before I got in the cab. Fortunately, I remembered as we pulled away & put it on. Masks help save lives, so it’s very important we all remember to wear them when we should.”
Later he added: “I’m guilty as charged. For a few seconds, I was a Covidiot.”
