Film Southasia – Call for Entry 2022 –

We are thrilled to share with you that today we have made history. With the help of our amazing team, this year’s Film Southasia is officially underway! We are now accepting entries for all categories, including Screenplay Competition and Best Documentary Award. Please see below for full details on how to submit your film or project in time for next year’s festival.

The “film south asia” is a call for entry that will be taking place in 2022. The deadline for submissions is the 31st of December, 2020.


Documentaries may be submitted to the Film Southasia (FSA) until December 31st, 2021. Entries must be about South Asian themes or issues, although the filmmakers do not have to be South Asian.

The following is information about the festival: Film Southasia (FSA) is a biannual film festival held in Kathmandu, Nepal, that began in 1997 with the goal of popularizing documentaries that educate, amuse, and alter people’s lives. Between festivals, a collection of great and representative films known as Travelling Film Southasia tour the area and beyond as mini-festivals (TFSA). Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, this event was rescheduled from its planned December 2021 date.

General Rules: -Entries must be on South Asian themes or issues, however filmmakers are not need to be South Asian. – Entries may focus on any aspect of South Asia, including people, culture, lifestyle, and adventure, as well as the environment, economics, politics, and history. – Feature and short documentaries are accepted; short films must be longer than 10 minutes. – Documentaries created after January 1st, 2019 are accepted for the festival. – Films filmed during this time period that were previously submitted to FSA but were not chosen may be submitted again. – Entries that have not been made public will be given preference. – Films may be in any South Asian language, but they must include English subtitles or dubbing. – All categories are free to submit to. — The deadline for submissions is December 31st, 2021. – Date of Notification: February 15th, 2022

The Film Southasia festival will take place in Kathmandu, Nepal, from April 21st to 24th.
