Great British Bake Off: Jurgen drops his sausage rolls

Great British Bake Off viewers said their hearts were in their mouths on Tuesday night, when show favourite Jurgen dropped his vegan sausage rolls on the floor as he went to put them in the oven.

But horror turned to confusion, when he proceeded to bake the pastry goods, and even joked to camera that no one would ever know what had happened.

Jurgen continued to cook and present his bakes, before leaving them on the table for the judges alongside the other contestants’ bakes.

Judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood would try each person’s vegan sausage rolls before marking them.

But viewers could not believe their eyes when, seemingly, the very same meat free sausage rolls that fell to the floor were given to the judges to inspect.

This can’t be entirely proven in that perhaps Jurgen made sure they tried one that wasn’t on the ground.

But it seemed as though Paul and Prue tucked into Jurgen’s bake completely unaware of what had happened – with the contestant saying nothing.

Taking to Twitter, viewers were divided over the moment as many shared their shock – and others found it hilarious.

One viewer tweeted: “IT’S BEEN ON THE FLOOR?” as another asked: “Did Jurgen just serve floor sausage rolls?”

A third said: “Jurgen watching Paul and Prue eat his vegan sausage rolls that he dropped on the floor.”

A fourth viewer added: “ I think it’s out of order that Jurgen didn’t fess up over the food on the floor. Should’ve told the judges.”

But some viewers were impressed with his decision, with a fan writing: “Chucked them on the floor and still didn’t come last. That’s my boy Jürgen right there.”

This was followed by another comment that read: “I love jurgen ever more cause he gave the floor sausage rolls to paul and prue.”

Meanwhile, Jurgen survived another week on the show as Lizzie was sent home by the judges.

The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
