Alison Hammond ‘cheats’ This Morning’s Spin To Win for excitable caller

This Morning’s Alison Hammond was on her A-game during today’s show as she “cheated” at spin-to-win after she struck up a rapport with an excitable caller.

Alison and Dermot both to a shine to the contestant, who told the pair that she “loves” them and that she was delighted to hear they’d landed the show’s Friday slot.

Alison gave her a virtual hug before giving the caller a bit of a helping hand by routing through the number balls as Dermot broke down in laughter.

Producing a ball she’d selected, Alison screamed: “You’ve won £1000!”

The Mirror exclusively revealed in January how ITV’s gamble to fill the Friday slot with Alison and Dermot had paid off after the show saw a huge ratings hike.

While some threatened to boycott the show, the switch-up has proved a big success story for the broadcaster and two presenters.

The dynamic duo have drawn in a 44% rise in viewership figures since taking over the gig from Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes in the new year.

Dermot was freed up for the gig after X Factor was – temporarily – axed in 2019, while Alison is a This Morning veteran, having served as a roving reporter involved in some truly iconic and chaotic moments.

Earlier in the show Alison joked that she “still needs to bond” with Dermot in an attempt to get him to tap dance.

Chatting with choreographer Lizzie Gee and her son Rufus, eight, Alison said: “I am actually speechless at how good at tap dancing you are, because I actually did tap dancing when I was a kid.

“It’s just a really nice thing to do isn’t it, to bond? And I feel like me and Dermot, we still need to bond.

“So I was wondering if you have any moves to teach Dermot, obviously I am a grade A tap dancer!”
