Nadine Coyle was left confused during Saturday’s I Can See Your Voice, when she was asked to repeat her comments as she “wasn’t allowed to say them” on a family show.
She was interrupted by host Paddy McGuinness and judge Jimmy Carr when they wrongly misheard her remarks about one of the show’s singers.
They were tasked with working out the good singers from the bad singers from a line-up.
She, along with Jimmy and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Alison Hammond, was trying to see from the clues whether she could work out a bad singer.
One particular act got Nadine thinking, because of the “crooner’s wink” he did in a video.
But as Nadine made her claims, Paddy quickly halted things with Jimmy and Amanda asking what she had just said.
Confused, Nadine repeated the comment and shouted: “He winked!”
But the stars of the show had misheard her comment due to her strong Irish accent, which also has an American twang, and had wrongly thought she said “w**k”.
Paddy suddenly said: “I’m sorry, excuse me,” with Jimmy confessing: “I don’t think you can say that.”
Amanda also shared her confusion adding: “I’m sorry….” before laughing, while Paddy went on: “This is a family show, what did you say.”
Nadine then corrected them, telling them she’d said “a crooner’s wink” to which Jimmy joked: “That’s fine Paddy, that’s fine, but for a second there.”
But they weren’t the only ones, as viewers at home also tweeted in to ask what Nadine had said – with many convinced she’d made a slip-up.
One viewer wrote: “Did Nadine just call someone a w****r? #icanseeyourvoice.”
Another said: “Nadine Coyle just said “w**k” on TV.”
A third added: “A crooners w**k?”
But many viewers knew full well what she’d actually said, and mocked those who misheard her.
I Can See Your Voice airs Saturday nights on BBC One.
