Jake Wood might have left Albert Square, but his 15-year legacy as Max Branning is still as strong as ever.
And one EastEnders fan has been gifted with the gift of a lifetime – ‘Max’ officiating their wedding.
Not sure the groom will be too happy about that, considering the Walford philanderer’s track record!
Sharing screenshots from a fan, Jake wrote on Instagram : “Looks like I’m officiating a wedding next year as Max Branning. What have I got myself into?”
In the pictures of their messages, a fan is seen asking: “Would you officiate my wedding as Max Branning? Nothing weird. Non-religious. Thanks.”
Responding, Jake sent crying laughing emojis and wrote: “When is it?”
The fan replied that it was April 2022, to which Jake wrote: “I’ll do it!!”
Jake’s 180k followers were left giggling over the chain of messages, with one commenting: “Now this I would like to see!”
While another joked: “The EastEnders spin off we never knew we needed.”
A third wrote: “That’s brilliant, love it – You’re so down to earth.”
Jake’s final scene as Max aired last month as he decided to leave baby Abi on former sister-in-law and ex-wife Rainie’s doorstep and hop on the tube.
It was a very low-key exit for a character with such explosive stories over the years – from being buried alive by his furious ex-wife Tania to that classic Christmas Day affair reveal with daughter-in-law Stacey Slater.
Jake filmed his final day on set in December and shared a video of himself walking around the Square.
He wrote on Instagram: “That’s a wrap. After 15 years on Albert Square it’s finally time to say goodbye to Max Branning today. I will miss Eastenders and the people here so much. Thanks to everyone for all your support.”
