Mayans M.C. has dropped the official trailer for its upcoming season 3, teasing new conflicts and challenges for the eponymous gang. Kurt Sutter and Elgin James’s spin-off to the 2008 breathtaking neo-western biker series, Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M. C. bowed on FX in October 2018. In the new show, Sons’ rival-turned allies, the Mayans Motorcycle Club, take the lead, with J. D. Pardo playing the main character of patch member, Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, whose great American dream was destroyed by cartel violence. Mayans M. C. initially opened up to great success, with season 1 clocking a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But after season 2, things went downhill as Sutter was fired over accusations of workplace misconduct. Nevertheless, Mayans M.C. managed to bounce back from its creative mayhem. In 2019, it was renewed for season 3, which is due to premiere on March 16, 2021.
On Tuesday, FX unveiled the full-length trailer for Mayans M.C.‘s impending season 3. Showcasing some gory shots of hanging bodies, street fights, and border violence in signature Mayans style, the trailer teases what’s next for EZ and the gang after the border shutdown. After uncovering the truth about their mother’s death, brothers EZ and Angel are closer than ever. But for their family to stay put, they must prevent Felipe’s deportation. Angel chooses to give away incriminating information to U.S. Assistant District Attorney, Lincoln Potter, for Felipe’s sake. But in doing so, he comprises Adelita’s freedom, leaving her to give birth in federal custody. The season 3 trailer also showcases the forthcoming action-packed rivalry between Mayans and Tijuana M.C, which erupts into a bigger disaster after the body of an SOA member is discovered in the Mexican desert.
The trailer has done a fine job in building up anticipation for the new season. Given that Mayans M.C. is returning after a two-year hiatus, fans were already quite excited for season 3. But with the trailer promising what may the bloodiest season for the show yet, fans’ hopes and excitement have hit an all-time high. This is Mayans M.C.‘s first iteration that is happing without Sutter, yet there isn’t much in the show that has changed. In fact, the violence, tense scenes, and nerve-racking scuffles have become more abundant. Hopefully, season 3 will be worth the wait and will surpass the quality of previous iterations.
