Clara Amfo has addressed the harsh criticism she received from Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood on Saturday’s show.
BBC Radio One DJ Clara’s first dance was dubbed “stumpy” and “poor” by the judge and was awarded a score of five.
Shortly after Craig handed out the score fans took to Twitter to blast him as they believed the star and professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec deserved much higher.
Clara’s Radio One colleague Greg James also found the score unfair and took to his Instagram Stories to slam Craig’s words.
And on her radio show on Monday morning, Clara commented on the situation and how she appreciated Greg’s support but that she thought twice about re-posting the message.
“The passion and sentiment was very lovely but I thought I’m not going to repost that,” laughed Clara.
Joking that receiving harsh words from Craig was a Strictly right of passage, she added: “I did say I wouldn’t have the full strictly experience if I didn’t have criticism from Craig…and I got what i asked for.”
Reflecting on the live show, she added: “I was shaking!”
“It was so much fun. I cannot say that enough. It was bonkers but brilliant!”
Clara and Aljaz were praised by judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas and that showed with their scores of six and seven.
Craig awarded the pair with a five – which watchers though was absurd.
One fan wrote: “She WAS NOT STOMPY – 5 from Craig is a joke #Strictly.”
Another said: “#Strictly That was not a 5, Craig, you twazzock!!”
This was echoed by a viewer who tweeted: “I think Craig was way too harsh on Clara, especially considering the fact that he has been fairly kind so far tonight. Clara entertained me.”
Another agreed: “5? 5, Craig? Clara deserved more than that.”
