Wayne Rooney ‘s marriage to childhood sweetheart Coleen has made as many headlines as his football career has.
Between admitting to sleeping with prostitutes and getting behind the wheel of a strange woman’s car while intoxicated to drive her home, the couple have faced more than their fair share of obstacles.
Coleen, who shares four kids with the ex-England star, has taken him back time and time again, publicly forgiving his misdemeanours.
At the same time, she’s been fiercely private about their lives behind closed doors, refusing to comment on his actions or explain why she was forgiving him.
But now, their marriage is set to be laid bare in new documentary Rooney, which launches on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow – and it’s packed with some bombshell admissions….

Blazing rows over prostitutes
Coleen opens up in the documentary about how she felt when she discovered Wayne was visiting brothels and having sex with prostitutes.
She says that while his behaviour is “not acceptable”, “forgiveness is different”.
Wayne and Coleen met in secondary school when they were 12, and he’s since admitted that his penchant for visiting prostitutes began when he was 16.
A story broke in 2004 that he’d been caught on CCTV numerous times visiting a brothel in Liverpool.
And he apologised, saying: “Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes.

“I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.”
The infidelity didn’t end there though, with the Sunday Mirror exposing in 2010 that Wayne had been enjoying secret hotel sessions with Jenny Thompson while Coleen was pregnant with their first son, Kai.
Asked in the documentary if she’d accepted Wayne’s past behaviour, she said: “No not the behaviour no, it’s not acceptable.
“Forgiveness is different, I’d say is different.

“I wouldn’t, it’s not acceptable that what he’s done but it’s happened and that was the stage of life we were in at the time but we’ve moved on.”
She added: “I forgive him but it wasn’t acceptable.
“But it’s not something that, if it come up we’d talk about it like we’re talking about it now I haven’t got the anger that I did at the time.”
Tears every time he left home
Coleen makes the heartbreaking confession that she cried every weekend Wayne had to leave her home alone.

She moved away from the council estate she’d grown up on after Wayne became a successful football star.
Many would think it was a dream come true for Coleen to relocate to a £900k mansion on Millionaire’s Row in Formby, but she admitted it was a rough time for her.
She said: “The thought of it was all fine and great. But then obviously you [Wayne] were away every weekend.”
“I used to leave my mum’s and cry all the way home to mine,” she added.
“It was all of a sudden, it was a matter of months. Everything just happened. We’ve always grown up quicker than what we were meant to, I think.”
Wayne needs to be ‘supervised’
Coleen has admitted that she thinks Wayne needs to be “supervised” while he’s around alcohol.
After a string of scandals rocked their marriage, alcohol has been blamed as a catalyst for the bad choices Wayne has made on his nights out.
Coleen says in the doc: “It’s not a good thing for Wayne to be unsupervised.”
She adds: “I knew groups that Wayne was hanging around with that weren’t good for him, lovely people but together with alcohol, not good.
“And I told him that from day one and I didn’t want him to stop being friends with them but I just didn’t want him to go out in situations with them because they got themselves into bad situations.
“But I do think alcohol has a lot to do with it and still has from things that have happened recently and I think it’s not a good thing for Wayne to be unsupervised.”
Did she take Wayne back for the sake of the kids?
Coleen has faced criticism from fans many times for taking Wayne back after his infidelities became public knowledge.
In the documentary, she finally addresses claims that she forgave him for the sake of their sons – Kai, 12, Klay, eight, Kit, five, and Cass, three.
She said: “I know people say, ‘Oh were they just staying together to keep the family unit together?’
“That was part of it but also we still love each other.”
She’s learned to live with his cheating
In an emotional confession, Coleen says she has learned to live with her husband’s infidelities.
While she admits she’s not “lovey dovey” with her husband, she says she’s learned to look past his romps with prostitutes and wild boozing sessions with other women.
She said: “We’re not the lovey dovey type anyway and we like to have a laugh together and we work well together, and we’ve got four kids.”
She added: “Hopefully he’s learnt and he doesn’t get himself into any of those horrible situations again.
“But it’s happened and I’ve got to live with it and if I couldn’t cope with living with it I would have ended the relationship.”
