The Mandalorian Season 3 Teased By Producer | Screen Rant

Producer Dave Filoni teases what can be expected from The Mandalorian season 3. Lucasfilm’s first live-action series debuted in 2019 and was quickly a hit for the Star Wars franchise. A second season released in 2020, but while its next outing is already confirmed, it will be a much longer wait compared to its predecessors, as the focus is currently on its offshoot, Book of Boba Fett.

After becoming a clan of two, Din Djarin was tasked to bring Baby Yoda back to the Jedi; before that, he became his father figure as they scoured the galaxy for his people. Their mission was made complicated by Moff Gideon’s attempts to kidnap Baby Yoda, which he ultimately succeeded in, leaving Mando desperate to rescue him. The Mandalorian season 2 finale, “Chapter 16: The Rescue,” reunited the pair, with Din and his newfound allies successfully retrieving the Child. Unfortunately, the reunion didn’t last long; Luke Skywalker arrived to pick up Grogu for training, effectively separating the father and son.

This will be the jumping point for The Mandalorian season 3, making it more difficult to predict what lies ahead for the titular character. When asked by Good Morning America about the much-anticipated return of the series, Filoni understandably wasn’t able to get into specifics, but he did say that there will be more adventures to come. He added that he and show creator, Jon Favreau, are currently busy working on Book of Boba Fett. Read what Filoni said about season 3 below:

Oh, that’s a tricky one, you know I don’t like to go into those answers without Jon here, my partner Jon Favreau. It’s exciting, we’re both working on that, we’re working on Boba Fett right now, so there’s a lot of new adventures coming up. I have to be careful, I can’t really say anything specific, but I think the Force will be strong with it. Let’s just say that.

At the end of The Mandalorian season 2, a surprise stinger was included, teasing the show’s first spin-off series, Book of Boba Fett, starring the fan-favorite bounty hunter played by Temuera Morrison and his trusted ally, Fennec Shand, portrayed by Ming-Na Wen. For a while, it was unclear what the project really was, with speculations that it will essentially be The Mandalorian season 3, ending the focus on Din. But this was immediately debunked as Book of Boba Fett will be separate. This means that Mando’s story continues, even though it might not prominently feature Baby Yoda moving forward.

While Grogu’s presumed absence in The Mandalorian season 3 will significantly impact the show, there’s still so much story left for Din outside of being a caretaker for the Child. At the end of season 2, he becomes the official owner of the Darksaber as he won it in a battle against Moff Gideon. This effectively pits him against Bo-Katan Kryze who has been working to reclaim the weapon in order to reunite Mandalore. It will be interesting to see how this situation will change the dynamic between Mando and Bo-Katan. Additionally, Filoni’s comments about more adventures might indicate that the series will continue sending Din to various missions, perhaps, as he returns in his original bounty hunting activities.
