While it’s usually Love Island that has people coupling up, it looks like romance is in the air backstage at Strictly Come Dancing, too – or at least fans are hoping that’s the case for AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington

Strictly: AJ Odudu addresses Kai Widdrington romance rumours

AJ Odudu has met Strictly pro Kai Widdrington’s parents – giving fans even more reason to hope they’ve fallen for one another.

Viewers have noticed the undeniable chemistry between AJ, 33, and Kai Widdrington, 26, since they were paired up at the start of the series.

And a week after being teased about kissing by presenter Claudia Winkelman, AJ has admitted she’s met Kai’s family – including his mum.

The Blackburn lass told the Daily Star Sunday : “I met Kai’s mum and had a conversation with her on FaceTime, then I met his brother and I’ve met his sister. I’m so excited.

“Honestly, Kai has got such a lovely family. I’ve met them all now. Meeting the parents!”

Strictly fans already know that the younger members of her family are just as friendly towards Kai after they were part of a VT ahead of their Halloween dance last week.

In the sweet clip, one of her nephews cheekily challenged her to kiss her pro-dance partner after she told them, “I really like Kai.”

AJ added: “My little nephew got jealous on my behalf when Kai was dancing with Nadiya in the pro dance. He’s a cheeky little menace.

“You know what kids are like. It’s all very exciting for them hearing the rumours.”

It’s not just their families, the viewers and Claudia who are hoping to see them make a go of things, the judging panel are also heavily invested.

Motsi Mabuse said after last week’s Viennese waltz: “The best part of you two is the chemistry between you. You were so together. You’ve just become one.”

But despite the pressure, AJ says that both her and Kai are focusing on the dancing, and winning the Glitterball Trophy.

She said: “I find it exciting that people are interested in us enough to take note of all these things. Everyone can see how well we’re getting on.
