Resident Alien Gets Season 2 Renewal at SyFy | Screen Rant

SyFy has officially renewed Resident Alien for season 2. The series is based on a comic book series of the same name about an alien who disguises himself as a regular human to blend in among a small town. The Dark Horse comic book miniseries is broken up into four issues and there are currently five miniseries with a sixth on the way. The comic book series was first issued in 2012 followed by the TV series premiere in 2021.

Resident Alien has been officially renewed for season 2 at SyFy. This news comes as the season 1 finale is set to air on March 31. When a network announces a show’s renewal before the series is finished airing, it’s usually a sure sign that the show is deemed a success by the network. Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBCUniversal TV and streaming, affirms this in a statement released along with the renewal news. She describes the process of making Resident Alien as everything coming together in “perfect harmony.”

Additionally, Katz expresses that the show’s foray into multiple genres like comedy and crime drama has allowed it to have a wider appeal than SyFy’s typical demographic. On top of its more diverse appeal, the show has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Even though it seems to diverge from some aspects of the comic book series, it’s welcomed by fans and fits for the television medium. Happily, the show isn’t likely going away anytime soon.

In Resident Alien, an alien, played by Alan Tudyk, crash lands on Earth and must pass himself off as small-town human doctor Harry Vanderspeigle. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life…but things get a bit rocky when he’s roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world.
