Phillip Schofield collapses in exasperation after tense Million Pound Cube task

Presenter Phillip Schofield collapsed in exasperation in Saturday night’s Million Pound Cube.

The host, 58, collapsed to his knees after tense scenes which saw former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Kevin Clifton narrowly fail a difficult task.

When Kevin failed to balance silver orb on a disc and try to connect it to a suspended magnet, Phillip fell to his knees before collapsing to the floor in a dramatic moment.

The nerves had clearly gotten to the host, whilst Kevin’s partner and journalist Stacey Dooley looked on in horror.

Phillip exclaimed: “I can’t remember in nine series of this show ever feeling like this.

“Oh my God, Kevin, you must be knackered!”

Apparently it was more taxing than even Phil had anticipated as Kevin later took to Twitter to reveal what a toll the task took on him.

Kevin tweeted: “I never once had any injuries on Strictly. After The Cube the medic rushed in with ibuprofen!”

Thankfully, Kevin still managed to win £10,000 for his performance on the show with Phil calling the win one of the “most deserved” he had ever seen in the show’s time on air.

The win came after Phillip was left fighting back tears in Friday night’s episode when father Adam won £100,000 for his children.

A clearly emotional Adam informed Phillip that he would not advance further in the competition and planned to divide his winnings between his son and co-player Rhys and daughter Rachel.

A choked-up Phillip said: “You’ve just changed the life of your kids.”

An overwhelmed Adam replied: It’s a bit much to take in.”

In a summary of the emotional episode, Phillip noted: “That was beautifully played and beautifully emotional – you haven’t beaten The Cube but you have taken £100,000 from it.”

It has been an eventful series on The Million Pound Cube as a recent episode saw the ITV show forced to cut to an advert break when a tense stand-off occurred between brothers Adam and John when they played alongside oneanother.
