Mobile Suit Gundam Seed: Anime Shows Conflict Between The Naturals & Facilitators!

This month, Gundam Seed aired its final episode. After a long, 6-year journey, the story of Seed is finally coming to a close. There have been a few other anime that have been more or less successful in ending their story, but none have been as much of a landmark as Gundam Seed. When the series first aired in 2002, it was groundbreaking in every possible way. Over the past decade, several franchise spin-offs, novels, and video games have followed, but none of them have been as impactful as the original series.

Last week, I finally finished watching Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (MSG). While I was unable to write up a full review of the series, I will still bring it up again here. I did enjoy the series, but it has one major issue that I believe needs to be addressed before this show is even considered for rewatching.

Anime shows tend to be very anime-focused. But, we all know that there are many more shows that don’t focus solely on the comedic aspects of the medium. There are several shows out there that deal with serious issues such as war, life, and death. Shows such as Kill La Kill, Psycho-Pass, and Gundam Seed all deal with very serious issues. One such example of this is Gundam Seed.

What Is The Anime About Mobile Suit Gundam Seed?

Sunrise Productions released Mobile Suit Gundam Seed in 2002, which is a pretty ancient anime. It premiered in Japan on October 5, 2002, and ran through September 27, 2003, consisting of about fifty episodes with a five-minute running length.

Although the series is licensed by Madman Entertainment, Sunrise, and Beez Entertainment Funimation, the animation is directed by Mitsuo Fukuda and written by Chiaki Morosawa.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED was a huge hit with the general public in Japan, collecting many awards and selling a lot of DVDs and CDs. The character’s development and animation have received praise, although there have been comparisons to previous Gundam series, which I believe is normal.

So, let’s speak about the anime’s plot and characters now…

Plot and Character Information for Mobile Suit Gundam Seed

The anime takes place in the year 70 of the Cosmic Era, as the battle continues… The Earth Alliance is on one side, while the space colonies that make up ZAFT are on the other (Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty).

Humankind is divided by hereditary design, with regular individuals referred to as “Naturals” and hereditarily altered humans referred to as “Facilitators.”

The Earth Alliance quickly discovers its five models, but ZAFT has an early edge on a flexible suit design. With ZAFT having captured four of the models, young pilot Kira Yamato is forced to fight his old friend Athrun Zala in the Strike Gundam.

Much to their dismay, there are nefarious forces at work that go far beyond their most worst nightmares. The anime has a variety of characters, both major and side roles, who have been listed below with their assigned voice artists in both the original and dubbed versions.
