Judi Love has told how gruelling workouts are helping her to get in shape for her Strictly debut, but admitted the regime is a battle.

The Loose Women panellist turned to high-intensity interval training sessions, fasting and lifting weights.

And 41-year-old Judi said the exercises could help her get used to learning a routine.

Speaking about doing 15-minute HIIT workouts, the comic said: “I’m not doing exactly how the trainer is telling me to do it, but I’m doing it.

“There was a battle, but I thought even if I do half of it, which I manage … before I know it I’ve done the 15 minutes. Throughout the day I can always look back and think, ‘At least I’ve done 15 minutes this morning.’

“I try to do a lot of fasting as well.”

While Judi finds cardio tough at times, she does enjoy weights.

She added: “I think the only exercise when I do it I feel the endorphins and feel powerful is when I do a little bit of weights. That would be my exercise addiction.

“I do weights on the legs, pushing on the machines, hand weights as well.

“I like the feeling of strengthening my body more than necessarily cardio.”

Judi has also been using stairs more, instead of taking a lift, in a bid to boost her fitness. When asked if she likes to stay reasonably fit, she said on her and Jason Manford’s Feel Good Tool Kit podcast: “I was going to say, ‘Have a look at me.’

“I’m a plus-sized girl and people just think, ‘You’re not fit.’

“I must say, over the last year or so I’m thinking more about my health.

“If I go to a building and there’s a lift and some stairs, I will try my best to take the stairs instead.

“So, it’s those little things I’m trying to be a bit more aware of. So I’m going to say yes, kind of. Almost.”

Judi’s friends fancy her chances of lifting the Glitterball trophy at the end of the BBC dance series, which is expected to kick off next month.

She hopes the sessions will help her get used to the routines

“I’m truly looking forward to pushing myself in something that I could have only dreamed of doing.”
