I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates have been instructed to shower more often and to use hand sanitiser, in a bid to keep the series Covid-19 free.
The ITV show’s producers are determined that there will be no coronavirus outbreak in the camp, especially after Strictly Come Dancing was hit by Covid.
In the BBC dance show, boxer Nicola Adams was forced to leave the series after her professional dance partner, Katya Jones, tested positive for coronavirus after she contracted the virus while buying a sandwich.
I’m A Celeb bosses have reminded campmates about “good hygiene” in a bid to ensure that the show runs smoothly.
A source told The Sun : “Regular washing is the way to keep the bug at bay, as the government has reiterated from the word go.”
The source continued to say that a lot of work had been undertaken to ensure the safety of all those involved and the “last thing they want is something to derail that.”
The show would be at risk if coronavirus infiltrated the camp, where it could “easily tear through” the celebrities there.
When the show was filmed in the Austrialian jungle in previous years, some campmates would go days without taking a wash but now it is at Gwrych Castle in North Wales and with coronavirus a real danger, extra precautions are being taken.
Ant and Dec have made sure that they have been socially-distanced from the campmates when introducing the Bushtucker Trials or when they go into camp.
Everyone on the show is reportedly being tested twice a week for the virus and the site is being deep-cleaned on a regular basis.
Producers are not taking the possibility of the virus coming into camp and the source said that they are reminding campmates to “maintain a good level of hygiene, which means regular handwashing and showers where possible.”
