Jason Donovan has become the seventh star to quit Dancing On Ice as the series plunges into crisis stage.
The 52-year-old, who is partnered with Alex Schauman, pulled out of the ITV show temporarily after suffering from back issues.
However, it has been confirmed that theatre star Jason will not be returning to the ITV skating show.
This comes just after ITV bosses were forced to cancel yesterday’s show after numerous exits.
An ITV spokesperson told the Mirror: “Jason Donovan has brought us so much joy with his performances on Dancing On Ice – from Priscilla through to the tango.
“Our thanks go to Jason and his partner Alex for being so wonderful and committed to the series. We’re sorry to see them leave and we wish Jason a speedy recovery.”
His early exit means that there are only five celebrities left in the competition – Rebekah Vardy, Lady Leshurr, Colin Jackson CBE, Sonny Jay and Faye Brookes.
Jason’s exit comes just a week after Joe-Warren Plant was forced to pull out last week following a positive coronavirus test.
Faye Brookes’ professional partner Hamish Gaman was forced to quit after suffering an injury to his finger and he has since been replaced by Matt Evers.
Mummy Diaries star Billie Faiers, 31, was forced to quit the show after suffering a concussion after a fall on the ice – just days before comedian Rufus Hound was forced to withdraw after a positive coronavirus test.
Denise Van Outen had become the first celeb to withdraw back in January after just one skate following a nasty fall which left her in “unbearable pain”.
Prior to Denise’s exit, however, pro skater Yebin Mok – who had been partnered with Graham Bell – had had to pull out before the show even began.
Yebin had been rushed to hospital after a skate stabbed her in the leg after a rehearsal went very wrong, with her injury being described by judge Jayne Torvill as one of the worst she had ever seen.
*Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV
