Dan Walker couldn’t help but take a swipe at his BBC Breakfast co-star Naga Munchetty after she announced a move to BBC Radio 5.
Naga, 45, is set to split her duties as she plans to appear on the morning news show just three days a week whilst simultaneously appearing on radio.
And Dan, 43, made a cheeky dig at Naga’s busy lifestyle, saying she will no longer have time to “play golf” due to the number of ventures she has taken on.
Naga is set to wake the nation up from Mondays to Wednesdays as she takes on Emma Barnett’s spot on Radio 5 Live.
Chatting about Naga’s exciting career move, Dan poked fun at his pal claiming she’ll have no time for fun.
He told Express.co.uk : “I’m not sure how she’s going to fit golf in. You can tell she’s not got any children.
“We’re always on the phone or texting each other. We’re both golf obsessed so we play a bit of golf.”
Golf-fanatic Naga previously opened up about how lockdown was made that much harder for her after she was unable to play a round of golf
She told The Guardian earlier this year: “I started 11 years ago, although for a long time I refused – I used to say it was a posh person’s game.
“But then my five rounds a week used to keep me very busy.”
But despite the cheeky dig, Dan admitted he was chuffed for Naga’s new career venture, gushing over her sheer ability to cover each subject in depth.
He told the publication: “I heard Naga on the radio when she was sitting in for it and she was so good and so comfortable,” he commented.
He added: “I think if you do the Breakfast job you have to be across everything.
“From news to light entertainment to sport and everything in between. And Naga is so across all that stuff.”
“She’s so capable of doing that job I think that she’ll be brilliant. She’s going to be a busy, busy old bee.”
