Now a source has told The Sun that Coach Trip will indeed be returning to our screens soon, reporting that Channel 4 were very keen to see the popular show make a return when it was safe to do so.

They revealed to the paper: “They’re going to start filming in September when it’s likely the world will be a little more back to normal.

“Everything will be filmed within Covid-19 safety guidelines but the show will look just as authentic as it usually does.”

They go on to say that the series will return for new episodes due to air in 2022, meaning it will be over two years since the previous series ended in 2019, with a celebrity edition airing in early 2020.

Additionally, the paper reports that fans can expect tour guide and host Brendan Sheerin, 62, to make a comeback too as the show heads to Europe.

The source added of Brendan returning for more Coach Trip: “Brendan is ready and raring to go and cannot wait to get back on the coach.”

The Mirror has reached out to Channel 4 for comment on this report.

Back in 2019 when the last series aired, openly gay Brendan opened up to The Mirror about the show itself but also how glad he was that acceptance for gay people had increased since his own youth.

“In the early days it was a bit dark because you had to be 21 to have a gay relationship,” revealed Brendan.

He added: “It does my heart good to see two boys holding hands.

“A while ago I was on Regent Street and I saw these two boys and they saw me looking.

“I said, ‘Do you know, I would have been arrested for doing that when I was young.’

“They just said, ‘Thank you for standing up for gay rights,’ because they know the older generation paved the way for the younger one.”
