A new TV spot for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier reveals Sam and Bucky’s reunion ahead of the show’s second episode. Marvel Studios’ latest show on Disney+ teams up Steve Rogers’ closest friends in a new mission post-Avengers: Endgame as they fight new and old villains. While the premiere titled “New World Order” kept the pair apart, they’re bound to come together to tackle the ongoing issues with the Flag-Smashers, not to mention the issues with the government introducing a new Captain America.
Boasting a more grounded story coming from WandaVision‘s mystical narrative, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has a look and feel similar to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The series is expected to deal with the Captain America legacy and what it means for a Black man like Sam to potentially assume the superhero title in the future. Meanwhile, Bucky is coming to terms with his past as a former HYDRA murder machine, the Winter Soldier, in an effort to move forward with his life in the MCU. All of this was established in the premiere, and now, the pair is ready to tackle their collective problems.
Released by Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube page, the new clip sees Sam and Bucky reuniting for the first time in the series as hinted by the former’s opening line. The video also teases the pair deciding to go on this mission together despite their mostly contentious relationship. Check out the teaser below:
Based on their initial interaction in the clip, it seems like it’s Bucky who reached out to Sam this time after he found out about John Walker as the government’s new Captain America. It’s worth remembering that in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiere, Bucky was criticized by his therapist for ignoring Sam’s attempt to reach out. From here, it seems like Bucky would be more inclined to join Sam in his new endeavors, leading them to tackle the mystery of the Flag-Smashers, as well as the impending return of Zemo from Captain America: Civil War.
While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier only has six episodes compared to WandaVision‘s nine, its outings are significantly longer. The ongoing Marvel Studios series is also quick to get its main narrative going, as the upcoming episode will more likely start establishing the threats in this post-Infinity Saga world. How Sam and Bucky handle them is still a mystery, but expect that throughout this whole experience, they will come out of this show having a better relationship with each other.
