Perry Mason Season 2 Has Eric Lange & Justin Kirk As Series Regulars

Eric Lange and Justin Kirk will now be series regulars for the upcoming second season of Perry Mason. The HBO drama is the revival of many television films and series, most notably, the 1957 television series of the same name, and is based on the series of the Perry Mason detective novels by Erle Stanley Gardner. The show was created by Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald and stars Matthew Rhys as the title character. Mason is a private investigator in 1931 Los Angeles during the Great Depression before becoming the famed criminal defense lawyer in the 1957 series. The cast, which also includes John Lithgow, Juliet Rylance, Shea Whigham, Chris Chalk, and Tatiana Maslany, had Lange and Kirk as recurring characters in the first season.

Per Deadline, Lange and Kirk are now set to be a part of the main cast for season two. Lange plays Detective Gene Holcomb, a dirty homicide detective who does not always play by the book. Kirk portrays Assistant DA Hamilton Burger, who is known as being Perry Mason’s rival but works with Mason on a murder case during the first season. Lange has recently appeared in Unbelievable, Escape at Dannemora, and Narcos, while Kirk is known for his roles in WeedsKidding, and Angels in America.

Since the series explores the origin story of Perry Mason, it makes sense for fans to understand his relationship with Hamilton Burger before they become adversaries in the black-and-white courtroom. And given the events that happened in the first season’s finale with Holcomb having his partner killed, it will be interesting to see the aftermath. With the addition of Kirk and Lange to the second season of Perry Mason, fans can be sure that there will be many more storylines to come.
