Hawkeye’s Jeremy Renner Shares Cute Archery Training Photo With Daughter

Hawkeye‘s Jeremy Renner shared a photo to social media showing off his daughter’s archery training. Renner is set to star in Hawkeye, which will premiere on Disney+ this year. It will be part of Marvel’s massive 2021 slate that will see the studio release four films and several television shows. Hawkeye will be the first solo venture for Renner’s character after his appearance in five Marvel films.

Hawkeye doesn’t have a release date yet, but filming has commenced in New York, giving fans a first glimpse at Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, who Renner’s Hawkeye will be passing on the baton to. Joining Steinfeld and Renner are Vera Farmiga, Alaqua Cox, Brian d’Arcy James, and Florence Pugh as her Black Widow character Yelena Belova. Details are otherwise scarce as to what the show will be about, but there have been several hints to its comics accurate storyline that will see Kate Bishop and Clint Barton teaming up.

Not a part of the team up, but seemingly training nonetheless, is Renner’s daughter, Ava. In an image shared to Twitter, Renner showed off a funny picture of Ava, who is only seven years old, wielding a bow, sans the arrows, just like her father’s character. Held over her face is a picture of Renner’s face. Next to the picture of Ava is a picture of Renner himself holding a children’s toy bow and arrow aiming out of the frame. Renner captioned the photo, “Another day at the office,” with the bow and arrow emoji he and other members of the cast have used to tease the show.

The pictures are a cute callback to a tragic moment early on in Avengers: Endgame. Clint Barton sat out Avengers: Infinity War, choosing to focus on his family instead. Unaware that his friends are battling Thanos, Avengers: Endgame opens with Clint training his daughter in archery. His wife, played by Linda Cardellini, is barbecuing for the family when Thanos’ snap happens. Clint doesn’t see his family disappear, but he is heavily traumatized by the disappearance of his family.

Although they eventually come back thanks to the time heist that sees the Avengers assemble all of the Infinity Stones together again, Hawkeye will likely explore the effects of that trauma. It will also see Clint Barton training Kate Bishop, another daughter like figure, presumably to take over his role as Hawkeye so he can stay close to his family. Bishop’s presence, along with a slew of other younger heroes, could be a sign of a new generation of heroes that will take on the world’s problems as the original Avengers retire. While Hawkeye is still a ways away, it’s likely to be an ever-important step in the evolution of both Clint Barton and the MCU as a whole.
