A weighty, political documentary and academy award winner that uncloaks the dirty oceanic animal trade and cruelty of Japan. Eye opening, National Geographic-like documentary flick that longs to politicise the audience, and partly does so, even if a bit overbearing.
THE GOOD: Encyclopaedically researched.
THE BAD: No let up from the harsh subject matter, but that’s the point.
THE UGLY: All of it. Invokes grimaces.
